MSL uses the Socially Responsible Leadership Scale-Revised Version Two (SRLS-R2), a statistically reliable and valid tool for measuring leadership development using the social change model (SCM).
It consists of 8 scales that correspond to SCM’s 8 core values. Each of the 8 scales is comprised of 6-9 questions in Likert-scale format. All scales have been factor analyzed to verify validity and reliability.
The SRLS-R2 is based on the work of Dr. Tracy Tyree, whose original scales included 104 questions. Several years later, Cara Appel-Silbaugh and John Dugan modified the scales using statistical techniques. They reduced the number of questions in each scale, while retaining validity and reliability. The result of their work is the 68-item SRLS-R2.
SRLS-R2 is distributed by the National Clearinghouse for Leadership Programs (NCLP).
